Frequently Asked Questions

Who installs your windows?

Northern Window and Door does not use subcontractors. We employ full-time, trained installers. We treat your installation as though we were installing into our own home.

What is an insert window?

An insert window is a window that is custom built to fit within the opening of an existing window. It is measured and designed to fit exactly and can be installed without removing or disturbing the existing frame.

How are insert windows measured?

Each opening should be measured to the 1/8" to ensure a good fit. Stock-sized windows can require extensive carpentry work both inside and outside your home. Such work can be costly and inconvenient.

What is a full frame replacement Window?

A full frame window is a window where the existing window is completely removed to a rough opening from stud to stud. This allows new insulation to be applied during installation to ensure a good seal. New frames (sills) and casing are installed on the interior. Either a new brickmould or aluminum capping is installed on the exterior.
